Who can use the collections of the UM of Lodz Information and Library Center (CIB)?

First of all, students, doctoral students and employees of the UM of Lodz.
Students of the University of Lodz and Lodz University of Technology.
People employed in health care in the Lodz region.
Other groups of recipients of CIB services.

The applicable rules for the use of the library can be found in the Regulations of the CIB.

What documents entitle you to use the CIB?

  • Students and doctoral students of the Medical University of Lodz – student ID card
  • Employees of the University of Lodz – employee ID card
  • Students of the University of Lodz and Lodz University of Technology – student ID card
  • Persons employed in health care in the Lodz region – identity card and current certificate of employment from the place of work (for self-employed persons – NIP or REGON)

How many books can be borrowed?

  • Students of the University of Lodz – 10 copies
    • from the Student Collection for 1 calendar year
    • from the Medical Collection for 2 weeks
  • Employees and doctoral students of the Medical University of Lodz – 10 copies
    • from the Medical Collection for 1 calendar year
    • from the Student Collection for 2 weeks
  • Students of the University of Lodz and Lodz University of Technology (PLUM project)
  • UŁ – 5 copies, PŁ – 8 copies (4 from the Student Collection and 4 from the Medical Collection)
    • UŁ and PŁ from the Medical Collection for 2 weeks
    • PŁ also from the Student Book Collection for 2 weeks
  • Persons employed in health care on the territory of Lodz province – 5 copies
    • from the Medical Collection for 3 months
    • from the Student Collection for 2 weeks

Is it possible to order books online?

Yes. After logging into your account through the Online Catalog, you can place an order for available books. They will be available for self-collection at the Book locker (ground floor of CIB).

  • Orders placed after 5:45 pm on Monday-Thursday will be prepared the next morning.
  • Orders placed after 5:45 pm on Friday, will be prepared on Monday.

We always inform you about the possibility of picking up your orders from the Book locker by email.

Does CIB charge fees for holding borrowed books?

Yes, at 0,30 PLN per day (including weekends), per book.

For example, the penalty for 5 overdue books will be respectively:
5 books x 0.30 PLN = 1.50 PLN per day
3 days = 4.50 PLN
10 days = 15 PLN

Please send the fees for the untimely return of books to the account: 46 1050 1461 1000 0005 0378 4118.
In the “transfer title” field, please write: For retention of books for CIB UM.

Please send confirmation of the transfer to the address of the Lending Library: cib.wypozyczalnia@umed.lodz.pl

Is it possible to extend the loan period of books?

Yes, it can be done:

  • online, after logging in to “My Account” in the Online Catalog
  • by phone by contacting the Circulation Desk (+48 (42) 272 54 31, during the working hours of the Circulation Desk)
  • in person, in the Circulation Desk or in the Information Desk (during CIB working hours)

Is it possible to use wifi in the CIB?

Yes, wifi is available in the building for students, doctoral students and employees of the University of Lodz and other universities affiliated with the Eduroam network:

  • “Student” or “Pracownik” wifi network – you need to log in with your credentials (email @stud.umed.lodz.pl or @umed.lodz.pl and domain password),
  • After authentication within the Eduroam service.

Is it possible to use electronic resources remotely (home computer)?

Yes, after logging into your account.

Is it possible to reserve a quiet study room?

Yes, the reservation policy can be found on our website in the Directory, Room Reservation tab.

Where can I stamp a paper circulation card?

Paper circulation cards can be stamped in the CIB Circulation Desk, ground floor of the building at Street Muszyńskiego 2.
